# up.Layer.prototype.title

This layer's window title.

If this layer does not have [visible history](https://unpoly.com/api/up.Layer.prototype.history.md), the browser window shows the title of an ancestor layer. This property still returns the title the layer would use if it had visible history. The same applies when [`up.history.config.enabled`](https://unpoly.com/api/up.history.config.md#config.enabled) [turns off](https://unpoly.com/learn/updating-history.md#disabling) the `'title'` aspect.
