# up.layer.overlays

Returns an array of all [overlays](https://unpoly.com/learn/overlays.md#layer-modes).

If no overlay is open, an empty array is returned.

To get an array of _all_ layers including the [root layer](https://unpoly.com/api/up.layer.root.md), use [`up.layer.stack`](https://unpoly.com/api/up.layer.stack.md).
