# up:deferred:load

This event is emitted before an [`[up-defer]`](https://unpoly.com/api/up-defer.md) placeholder loads its deferred content.

The event can be [prevented](#event.preventDefault) to stop the network request. The loading will not be attempted again, but you can use [`up.deferred.load()`](https://unpoly.com/api/up.deferred.load.md) to load it manually afterwards.
